Windhoek is
surrounded by the Auas and Eros Mountains necessitating the airport
to be located some 41km east of the city. This is the main entry
port for the majority of overseas visitors to Namibia.
Although small, by first world standards, there are several
international flights daily to and from the airport.
Shuttle and Taxi Services:
Windhoek Airport: to and from the city. Regular charges are
between N$180 N$200 per
person. You are advised to establish the price before engaging the
service. I have personal experienced taxi drivers trying to charge 4
times more than this fee, when thinking I was a tourist.
Walvis Bay Airport: Shuttle service costs to or from (+):
Walvis Bay Town: N$90,--
Swakopmund: N$200,--
VAT Reclaim: The Department of Customs and Excise office
is located in the corridor between the arrivals and departure halls.
